Amit Singh is a Data Engineering leader with 15+ years of experience building enterprise data platforms across insurance, retail, financial services, and analytics organizations. He is the Founder of Data Engineering Copilot, a personal product focused on metadata-driven engineering and governed delivery workflows.
Data Engineering Copilot, also referred to as DE Copilot, is a metadata-driven engineering platform focused on transforming structured metadata into governed, reviewable engineering deliverables.
DE Copilot helps teams generate and manage engineering artifacts such as target DDL, transformation SQL, data dictionaries, technical specifications, data quality recommendations, reconciliation checks, and documentation through a governed metadata workflow built around a Canonical Metadata Model.
The platform is designed for enterprise data engineering teams that want to move faster without sacrificing governance, traceability, or human accountability. Instead of manually translating mapping documents into code and supporting materials, DE Copilot helps teams create reviewable engineering artifacts from structured metadata while keeping engineers in control of every output.
With over 15 years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Platforms, Cloud Modernization, Data Governance, and Enterprise Analytics, Amit has led large-scale data transformation initiatives across Insurance, Retail, Financial Services, and E-Commerce organizations.
That experience repeatedly translating the same business metadata into different technical formats across different platforms is what led to DE Copilot. The problem was not a lack of engineering talent. It was the absence of a structured, reusable metadata layer that could drive artifact generation across any platform.
DE Copilot is the answer to that problem: a platform that treats metadata as the product, and generates everything else from it.
For more than 15 years, I have worked across enterprise data engineering programs where the same business metadata had to be repeatedly translated into SQL, technical specifications, data dictionaries, data quality rules, reconciliation checks, and delivery artifacts.
While organizations invest heavily in data platforms, much of the delivery process remains manual, document-driven, and dependent on individual interpretation.
DE Copilot was created to address that challenge by treating metadata as the source of truth and supporting a governed workflow that includes validation, artifact generation, human review, assumptions tracking, approval, and auditability.
The goal is not to replace engineers. The goal is to help engineering teams spend less time translating requirements and more time solving business problems.
DE Copilot is evolving beyond artifact generation into a governed project memory and delivery workspace.
Its long-term direction includes project memory, human-approved learning, an assumptions and decisions register, reusable engineering skills, structured handoff notes, delivery-readiness tracking, review queues, evidence and traceability, and a post-delivery Knowledge Copilot.
The goal is to preserve engineering context across the full lifecycle: from structured metadata and generated artifacts to review decisions, approved patterns, handoff information, support questions, and delivery history.

Speaker Bio
For conference websites & programsAmit Singh is a Lead Data Engineer and the Founder of Data Engineering Copilot, an AI-powered metadata intelligence platform designed to accelerate governed data delivery for enterprise engineering teams. With over 15 years of experience, he has designed and delivered large-scale data platforms across insurance, retail, and financial services organizations - including work at Walmart, EXL, Cognizant, IBM, and L&T Infotech.
Amit's work centers on a core belief: the most valuable asset in any data migration or modernization program is not the technology - it is the metadata. His platform, DE Copilot, operationalizes this belief by normalizing business requirements and source-to-target mapping metadata into a Canonical Metadata Model, then using AI to generate reviewable engineering artifacts including SQL, DDL, data dictionaries, lineage documentation, and test cases - all with human-in-the-loop governance at every step.
Beyond building DE Copilot, Amit is an active contributor to the data engineering and AI community. He has served as a technical judge at AI hackathons hosted by MLH, DEV, LabLab.ai, and SANS Institute, evaluating submissions across AI, software engineering, and cybersecurity. He has submitted conference talk proposals to PyBay 2026, DevFest KC, and AI Dev World, and publishes technical articles on metadata engineering, Snowflake architecture, and enterprise AI on the DE Copilot blog and DEV.to.
His sessions are practical and experience-driven - built for data engineers, architects, and technical leaders who want to move beyond theory and apply real patterns to real enterprise delivery challenges.
